U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright has wrapped up his first official international visit to the UAE, underlining the enduring strategic partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to advancing global energy security.
The two-day visit, which marks a significant milestone since Secretary Wright assumed office, focused on deepening energy cooperation and promoting technological innovation to boost energy efficiency and market stability. With global energy markets facing heightened volatility, both sides emphasized the importance of adopting advanced technologies to ensure cost-competitive, secure energy supplies.
During his visit, Secretary Wright held high-level meetings with key UAE government and industry leaders, including Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Mohamed Alsuwaidi, Mariam Almheiri, and Yousef Al Otaiba. Discussions centered on energy, infrastructure, AI integration, and investment.
Dr. Al Jaber emphasized the
“shared commitment to energy security and prosperity,”
and highlighted the energy-AI nexus as a frontier for future collaboration. Secretary Wright praised ADNOC’s “high-performing, technology-driven” operations and described his visit to the UAE as “tremendous.”
Secretary Wright toured critical energy assets, including the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant—developed under the UAE-U.S. 123 Agreement—and the Shah Gas Field, operated in partnership with U.S.-based Occidental. He also visited the Al Dhafra Solar PV IPP project, underscoring the UAE’s leadership in clean energy and innovation.
The visit spotlighted growing opportunities for U.S.-UAE collaboration in energy, AI, infrastructure, and manufacturing. With XRG, ADNOC’s international investment arm, poised to meet the rising energy demands of AI, both nations are well-positioned to shape a future of sustainable growth and energy resilience.
