The UAE will host a pivotal summit in Dubai from April 16 to 17, 2025, spotlighting the critical role of the Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) sector in combating financial crimes.

Organised by the Ministry of Economy and the Executive Office for Control and Non-Proliferation (EOCN), the summit aims to deepen public-private cooperation in the fight against terrorism financing and the proliferation of arms. Key discussions will centre on enhancing compliance, customer due diligence, and the implementation of targeted financial sanctions in line with international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The event will bring together key players from sectors such as real estate and precious metals, providing a platform to reinforce awareness of updated national and global regulatory requirements.

Talal Al-Teneiji, Director of EOCN, emphasised the summit’s role in boosting data accuracy and effectiveness within the DNFBP sector.

“Strengthening public-private partnerships is essential to improving the detection of suspicious activities and preventing sanctions evasion,”

he said.

“This summit reaffirms the UAE’s commitment to building a more transparent and sustainable financial system.”

He further noted the importance of ongoing risk assessments in tackling terrorism financing and arms proliferation, stressing the coordinated efforts of law enforcement and the Financial Intelligence Unit.

Over two days, the summit will feature interactive sessions and pattern analysis discussions aimed at equipping DNFBPs with tools to better identify and prevent illicit financial activity—solidifying the UAE’s leading role in safeguarding the integrity of its financial ecosystem.
