The UAE is set to make history by hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, marking the first global women’s cricket event in the region.
Organised in partnership with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the tournament will take place from 3rd to 20th October 2024 across the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah.
During a press conference held at the Dubai Sports Council, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice highlighted the UAE's diverse population, making it a home ground for all participating teams.
“With fans from across the globe, this will be a unique World Cup for all 10 teams,”
said Allardice. He also announced that tickets would be available for as low as AED5, with free entry for under 18s.
The tournament will feature 10 teams, including Australia, New Zealand, England, India, Pakistan, and others, competing in 23 matches. The semifinals are scheduled for 17th and 18th October in Dubai and Sharjah, with the final set for 20th October in Dubai.
Zaid Abbas, ECB Board Member, expressed the board's readiness to host the prestigious event, emphasizing the UAE’s experience in staging top-class cricket.
The tournament promises thrilling contests as the world’s best women cricketers vie for the T20 crown.
