The United Arab Emirates is set to host US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright on his first international trip in office, marking a significant step forward in the UAE-US strategic energy partnership.
Abu Dhabi is the first stop in a broader Middle East tour, underscoring the growing cooperation between the two nations.
Secretary Wright’s visit follows a successful UAE leadership delegation to Washington, DC in March, where both countries reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration across energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and artificial intelligence.
During his UAE stop, Wright will meet with top government and industry leaders, including Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Mohamed Alsuwaidi, Mariam Almheiri, and Yousef Al Otaiba. Talks will focus on expanding sustainable economic growth, advancing energy innovation, and fostering cross-border trade and investment.
Dr. Al Jaber welcomed the visit, calling it a reflection of the "strength and depth" of UAE-US ties, grounded in mutual respect and shared goals. He highlighted new avenues of cooperation in energy, AI, and industry that align with both nations’ pro-growth, pro-investment outlook.
Secretary Wright emphasized his enthusiasm for continuing discussions with UAE counterparts, particularly following recent UAE investments in the US and their joint efforts to boost global energy security.
The visit will also feature a Future Energy Leaders Majlis, co-hosted by Wright and Al Jaber, bringing together emerging Emirati and American talent from top universities and institutions.
The UAE’s expanding energy presence in the US—through entities like Masdar and XRG—mirrors growing bilateral cooperation in clean energy, hydrogen, LNG, and civil nuclear initiatives, signaling a shared ambition to build scalable, secure, and sustainable energy systems for the future.
