The UAE is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the installation of over 500 charging stations by the end of 2025, a move aimed at promoting clean transportation and reducing carbon emissions.
Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, announced the initiative on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit’s preliminary day. He highlighted that the ministry, which owns 50% of the UAEV, installed more than 100 EV chargers across the country in 2024 and is accelerating efforts to meet the rising demand for EVs.
The project follows an integrated approach, with collaboration between the private sector and local authorities to ensure a strong and widespread charging network. This aligns with the UAE’s national sustainability goals and commitment to a greener future.
In addition to expanding EV infrastructure, Al Olama stated that the ministry aims to increase renewable energy capacity to over 14 gigawatts by 2030, reinforcing the country’s dedication to clean energy development.
The UAE’s push for sustainable mobility and renewable energy reflects its broader strategy to achieve net-zero emissions and lead the region in green initiatives.
