UAE to Install 500+ EV Charging Stations by 2025 to Boost Clean Transport
The UAE is ramping up its commitment to sustainable mobility with plans to install over 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide by the end of 2025.
This initiative, announced by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, underscores the country’s dedication to promoting clean transportation and reducing carbon emissions.
Speaking at the World Government Summit’s preliminary day, Al Olama revealed that the ministry, which owns 50% of UAEV, installed over 100 EV chargers across the UAE in 2024. Efforts are now being accelerated to meet the growing demand for EVs.
The project follows an integrated approach, bringing together the private sector and local authorities to create a robust and widespread charging network, aligned with the UAE’s national sustainability objectives.
In addition to expanding EV infrastructure, the ministry is working toward boosting the UAE’s renewable energy capacity to exceed 14 gigawatts by 2030. This milestone reinforces the country’s commitment to clean energy development and its Net Zero 2050 strategy.
The UAE’s drive for sustainable mobility and renewable energy reflects its broader goal of leading the region in green initiatives. By advancing EV infrastructure and renewable energy projects, the country aims to achieve net-zero emissions while positioning itself as a global leader in clean energy and sustainable development.
This expansion of EV charging stations is not just a step toward reducing carbon emissions but also a reflection of the UAE’s forward-thinking vision for a sustainable and inclusive future.
