The UAE is set to launch a dedicated academic major in real estate at select universities, offering Emirati students an opportunity to gain specialised qualifications in a rapidly growing sector.

This initiative was announced by Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, during the 2nd Real Estate Day for Emiratis Employment 2024 in Dubai. The new academic program, exclusively for Emiratis, will be rolled out in collaboration with local universities, with details to be revealed soon.

This year’s Real Estate Day, aimed at boosting Emirati participation in the real estate sector, saw an impressive turnout, with over 400 vacancies posted in a single day. Ghalita highlighted the immense opportunities available in the industry, encouraging Emiratis to seize these career prospects. Last year’s event resulted in over 1,000 Emiratis securing employment, and this year, top real estate companies returned with diverse roles targeting young talent.

Among the event's key participants was Dirham, the first UAE-based real estate company dedicated to supporting Emiratis in the sector. Omar Alshaiba, the company’s owner, stressed the importance of empowering Emiratis with flexible online training and non-binding contracts. Al Ruwad Real Estate, with 11 years of expertise, also participated, offering roles in marketing, public relations, and administration. Arada Real Estate continued its Emiratisation efforts by offering positions in marketing and hospitality.

Aspiring professionals like Hazza Al Yamahi, a 19-year-old high school graduate, and Zayed University graduates Shahed Bin Haidar and Fawaghi Al Sheikh attended, eager to enter the real estate world. The event was organised by the Dubai Land Department in collaboration with several Emirati talent development bodies.
