UAE to Launch National Cybersecurity Strategy at WGS 2025

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC), has announced the official launch of the UAE’s National Cybersecurity Strategy this week. The initiative aims to fortify the country’s digital infrastructure, reinforcing its leadership in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti stated that the newly approved five-year strategy, endorsed by the UAE Cabinet, is structured around five key pillars. These pillars are designed to support the safe and rapid adoption of emerging technologies while ensuring a secure and resilient digital landscape.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti emphasized that the strategy not only focuses on cybersecurity but also plays a crucial role in bolstering economic growth and protecting critical infrastructure. He pointed out that global losses from cyberattacks, cyber warfare, and cyberterrorism reached approximately $10 trillion in 2024, highlighting the urgency of strengthening cybersecurity measures. The UAE has proactively invested over $2 billion in cybersecurity and digital transformation to address these challenges.

Additionally, the Cybersecurity Council is in the final stages of drafting several policies, including a cryptography policy set for implementation in the first quarter of 2025. The council is also developing new cybersecurity standards aimed at enhancing institutional compliance and security measures across sectors.

The launch of the National Cybersecurity Strategy underscores the UAE’s commitment to maintaining a secure and innovative digital ecosystem, positioning the nation at the forefront of global cybersecurity advancements.
