The United Arab Emirates has once again claimed the top global ranking in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network coverage, reaching a remarkable 99.5%, according to the latest 2024 report by the FTTH Council Europe.
This marks the UAE’s continued dominance in the sector since 2016, ahead of South Korea (96.6%) and China (93.6%).
At the forefront of this achievement is e& UAE, which leads the nation’s telecommunications sector with the highest fixed broadband penetration rate. Its fibre-optic infrastructure spans over 14.5 million kilometres—more than 360 times the Earth's circumference—delivering high-speed connectivity to more than 2.88 million homes across the country.

This feat reflects e& UAE’s “Fiber-First” strategy, which prioritises fibre technology as the foundation of premium connectivity, aligning with the UAE’s vision for digital transformation. From pioneering fibre-optic deployment in 1986 to making Abu Dhabi the first capital city fully covered by fibre in 2011, e& UAE has consistently pushed the envelope in digital infrastructure.
“This milestone is the result of decades of commitment to innovation,”
said Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE.
“It’s about building the backbone of a future-ready digital ecosystem.”
Supporting smart transformation and enhancing quality of life, this advancement aligns with the goals of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority to position the UAE as a global connectivity hub.
Continuing its innovation streak, e& UAE has introduced Fibre-to-the-Yacht (FTTY) and Fibre-to-the-Room (FTTR) services, extending high-speed internet to yachts and enhancing in-home wireless networks—ideal for smart homes and tech-driven lifestyles.
With this record-breaking coverage, the UAE strengthens its role as a global leader in digital infrastructure and next-gen connectivity.
