The World Future Energy Summit will put a spotlight on green hydrogen as a driving force behind industrial decarbonisation when global energy leaders gather at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi from January 13 to 15.
The event forms part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week hosted by Masdar and organised by Masdar, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to advancing clean energy solutions.
With the United Kingdom aiming to expand low carbon hydrogen production to 10GW by 2030, the Summit is expected to serve as a key platform for policymakers, investors, and industry experts from both the UAE and the UK to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities. Organisers say the discussions will focus on practical ways to scale the UK’s emerging green hydrogen market through shared expertise and strategic partnerships.
UK Minister of State for Industry Sarah Jones reinforced the importance of hydrogen in the national agenda, stating that hydrogen must be at the heart of plans to grow the economy and achieve net zero emissions by 2050. She confirmed that government and industry are already delivering real projects to help build the UK hydrogen economy.
Dr Carole Nakhle, CEO of Crystol Energy and Secretary General of the Arab Energy Club, will speak at the Summit and highlight the long established strategic relationship between the two nations. She noted that the hydrogen market has moved beyond early enthusiasm and entered a disciplined phase where clear regulation and long term commitment are essential.
The UK Government projects that around £9 billion in private funding will be required to support 27 major hydrogen initiatives. Recent public investment of £500 million for hydrogen infrastructure signals continued momentum.
A dedicated Green Hydrogen Innovation Hub at the Summit will showcase startups and new technologies, aiming to accelerate global adoption. Participants believe UAE-UK collaboration from 2026 to 2030 could play a decisive role in turning ambitions into large scale delivery.
