In the latest QS World University Rankings for the Arab region, several universities in the UAE have achieved remarkable placements, underscoring their academic excellence and international appeal.

The index evaluated institutions based on academic reputation, faculty and student diversity, and employer perceptions of graduates.

Khalifa University of Science and Technology has climbed to fourth place, up from seventh, while UAE University moved from sixth to fifth. Abu Dhabi University made a significant leap to 12th from 23rd, and Ajman University rose to 17th from 22nd last year.

Canadian University Dubai (CUD) excelled in ‘academic reputation’, ranking ninth. Additionally, eight UAE institutions were recognized among the top 10 for ‘international faculty’, including Al Ain University and American University in Sharjah. The American University in Dubai and British University in Dubai were among the six universities noted for their international student body.

Ben Sowter, senior vice-president of QS, praised the UAE's performance, highlighting its "highly international" environment and strong research output. He noted that Emirati universities achieved the region's highest average scores across six out of ten QS indicators.

This year's ranking, the largest ever conducted, assessed 246 universities across 20 Arab countries. King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Saudi Arabia retained the top position, with Qatar University and King Saud University following closely.

The report reflects the UAE's significant role as a research hub, showcasing its ability to attract global talent and produce influential work, despite its academic reputation not fully reflecting its achievements.
