UAE Unveils Groundbreaking AI Tool for Agriculture at COP29

The UAE has announced the development of the world’s first ChatGPT tool specifically designed for the agricultural community.

The groundbreaking tool, referred to as "CHAG" (Chat + Ag), was unveiled today at the UAE Pavilion during COP29, where global discussions centered on the role of technology in decarbonisation and energy transition.

Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Head of the International Affairs Office in the UAE Presidential Court, shared the exciting news during the session “Partnering to Create AI-based Public Goods for One Billion+ Smallholders.” The tool, which draws on over 50 years of research data, is set to transform agricultural practices, especially for farmers in challenging climates. It leverages advanced AI to provide actionable insights, helping farmers make critical decisions about planting, harvesting, and adapting to volatile weather patterns.

Almheiri, who also serves as a Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, highlighted the potential of this tool to equip farmers with vital information, ensuring informed decision-making. The AI-powered platform was developed as part of the UAE-Gates Foundation partnership, with Celeste Saulo of the World Meteorological Organization emphasizing its focus on translating climate data into practical applications for smallholders.

The announcement was part of a wider agenda at COP29, which also included discussions on sustainable energy, carbon footprint reduction, and the role of AI in food systems innovation. The UAE continues to lead by example in integrating AI and technology to tackle climate challenges and accelerate the transition to a sustainable future.
