The UAE has secured the right to host the 2029 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Abu Dhabi, marking a strong global endorsement of the country’s economic strength and institutional readiness.

The high-profile event will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, and policymakers from more than 190 countries to discuss global economic stability, growth, and development priorities.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said the selection reflects international confidence in the UAE’s financial standing and its growing influence in shaping the global economic agenda. He highlighted the country’s ability to host major international gatherings and its role in advancing financial dialogue on a global scale.

The UAE secured the bid after receiving the highest number of votes through an international evaluation process. The decision underscores the country’s stable economic environment, balanced fiscal policies, and advanced infrastructure.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Minister of Finance, said hosting the meetings aligns with the nation’s strategy to strengthen international partnerships and support global economic stability. He added that the event will serve as a platform for meaningful dialogue and cooperation among nations.

The UAE previously hosted the same meetings in Dubai in 2003, reinforcing its track record in organizing large-scale global events.

The Annual Meetings are considered among the most significant gatherings in the financial calendar, shaping policies that influence the direction of the global economy. Hosting the 2029 edition is expected to further cement the UAE’s position as a key hub for international economic collaboration.
