The UAE’s sixth edition of the World’s Coolest Winter campaign has delivered a major boost to the national tourism sector, generating AED12.5 billion in hotel revenues and attracting nearly five million hotel guests over a six-week period, according to Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri.

Al Marri said the campaign recorded an average hotel occupancy rate of 84 percent, placing the UAE among the highest-performing tourism markets globally during the winter season. He attributed the campaign’s success to the guidance of the UAE’s leadership and its role in highlighting the strength, diversity, and competitiveness of the country’s tourism offering.

Launched on 16 December, the campaign showcased the UAE’s eco-tourism destinations, green spaces, and distinctive winter experiences, positioning the country as an attractive year-round destination. It also aligned closely with the objectives of the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to strengthen the sector’s global standing.

The initiative saw strong public engagement and extensive media coverage at local, regional, and international levels. More than 50 local and international content creators participated, helping the campaign reach close to 900 million followers across social media platforms.

Al Marri noted that early indicators for 2025 point to continued growth for the tourism sector, supported by the UAE’s advanced infrastructure, transport networks, and world-class facilities. Tourism currently contributes around 15 percent to the national GDP, moving steadily toward the 17 percent target set under the Tourism Strategy 2031, reflecting the sector’s resilience and long-term growth potential.
