UAE Wrestling Federation Unveils Ambitious Strategy for Growth

The UAE Wrestling Federation has announced a comprehensive new strategy to elevate the sport both locally and internationally, aligning with the country’s vision to enhance sports, increase youth participation, and build a competitive generation.

The announcement was made during a press conference at Rotana Yas Island Hotel, attended by key officials, including Mouza Al Ali, Board Member of the UAE Wrestling Federation; Sultan Al Ketbi, CEO and Board Member; Nasser Khamis Al Marri, Director of the Olympic Sports Department at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; and Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM.

The strategy focuses on five core areas:

  • Competitive Tournaments: The UAE Wrestling Federation Cup is set for February 22-23 at Mubadala Arena, featuring 300 athletes from various clubs and academies.
  • Community Expansion: Club participation has increased from five to 12, with a goal of 15 by year-end. Additionally, the Federation aims to introduce wrestling into 10 schools in its first year.
  • Coaching Development: Top-tier local and international coaches will be recruited, implementing training programs aligned with global best practices.
  • Digital Transformation: An electronic registration system and live streaming will enhance audience engagement and visibility.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborations with government and private entities will ensure athlete development and Olympic-level preparation.

Mouza Al Ali emphasized the Federation’s commitment to fostering wrestling among youth in a structured environment. Sultan Al Ketbi highlighted digital advancements and the UAE Wrestling Federation Cup as crucial steps in elevating the sport. Nasser Khamis Al Marri reaffirmed Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s support, while Tariq Al Bahri confirmed IVSM’s role in talent development and global exposure.

The press conference also saw the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with IVSM and a cooperation agreement with Khorfakkan Club to enhance sports infrastructure and development.
