The 2024 Annual Meeting of Global Future Councils (AMGFC24) highlighted the UAE's flexible governance model, particularly in AI, regulation, and education, as a blueprint for global success.
During the panel discussion titled “UAE: The Next Decade,” leaders discussed how the nation is leveraging technology and reskilling its workforce to maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Sarah Al Amiri, UAE Minister of State for Public Education, emphasized the need for educational reforms to meet future demands.
“We need to rethink how we approach traditional education systems, focusing on skills and values that uphold who we are as nations,”
she stated. Al Amiri underscored the UAE’s commitment to reskilling and advancing its education system, ensuring the workforce is prepared for emerging challenges.
Maryam Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet, noted that regulatory reforms are pivotal for national progress. She highlighted that over 75% of regulations have been updated in the past three years, including reducing the legal age for business and introducing full foreign ownership in various sectors.
Danny Quah, Dean of the National University of Singapore, stressed the need for innovative regulation to tackle global issues such as climate change and future pandemics. Euvin Naidoo, Distinguished Professor at Thunderbird School of Global Management, praised the UAE’s adaptable regulations that foster innovation and collaboration across sectors.
AMGFC24, hosted by the UAE Government in cooperation with the World Economic Forum, runs from October 15-17, featuring over 500 participants from 80 countries, shaping the agenda for the 2025 WEF Annual Meeting in Davos.
