The UAE's media industry showcased its growing influence and innovation in 2024, reinforcing its role as a leader in constructive content creation, professional empowerment, and future-focused media strategies.

The National Media Office (NMO), under the leadership of Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, spearheaded numerous initiatives to enhance the UAE’s local and global media presence. Key forums, such as the “Media and National Responsibility Forum” and the Emirati Media Pioneers Forum, highlighted the country’s commitment to shaping the future of the sector.

A major highlight was the Global Media Congress, hosted by ADNEC in collaboration with WAM, under the theme “Vision, Empowerment, Interaction.” Drawing over 25,500 attendees, the event featured 96 panel discussions and global keynote sessions, tackling key media trends and the challenges posed by AI.

Dubai played a significant role, launching the Dubai Media Academy and the Emirati Media Talent Pledge to nurture national talent. The Dubai Press Club introduced the “Arab Podcast Programme,” while the Emirati Media Forum explored media's economic role.

Other notable events included the “1 Billion Followers Summit,” attracting over 7,000 participants and launching an AED 150 million fund for content creators, and Sharjah’s International Government Communication Forum, which hosted over 250 global experts.

The UAE also led discussions on AI and media regulation at regional meetings, including the GCC Information Ministers Meeting in Doha and the Arab Information Ministers Council session in Dubai.

From global summits to local talent development, 2024 marked a transformative year for the UAE’s media sector, solidifying its global stature and pioneering vision.
