Unifeeder Achieves Major Growth in Intra-Mediterranean Trade

Unifeeder, part of DP World Marine Services, has seen remarkable growth in the intra-Mediterranean trade sector in 2024, tripling its market share to 4.3%, securing its position as a key regional player.

According to industry analysts, Alphaliner, Unifeeder led the region in capacity growth, ranking among the top six operators in the Mediterranean.

The company’s Mediterranean fleet now comprises 20 container ships with a combined capacity of 24,000 TEUs, equaling global leader COSCO SHIPPING Lines. Over the past year, Unifeeder introduced seven new intra-Mediterranean services, adding 10,600 TEU of capacity and increasing its average vessel size to 1,186 TEUs. These moves reflect Unifeeder’s responsiveness to shifting regional trade demands and its commitment to enhancing connectivity across the Mediterranean and Black Sea.

Further expanding its reach, Unifeeder will introduce new services in the Black Sea later this month, continuing to meet rising demands for efficient intra-regional trade solutions.

Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer of DP World Marine Services, stated,

"Our success in the intra-Mediterranean and Black Sea regions highlights our ability to adapt to changing market dynamics and deliver tailored solutions to our customers, creating long-term value and strengthening supply chains."

The Mediterranean trade sector has expanded by 9.3% in capacity, with Unifeeder’s market share surging from 1.5% to 4.3%, reflecting the growing demand for agile, regional operators as mainline carriers outsource intra-regional services.

Martin Gaard, CEO of Unifeeder A/S, emphasized that Unifeeder’s growth aligns with the company’s focus on offering flexible, reliable, and sustainable shipping solutions amid the evolving geopolitical and economic landscape.
