Status on WhatsApp is a popular feature used to share temporary updates with friends and close contacts. It allows users to share photos, videos, GIFs, text, and more, which disappear in 24 hours. Like personal chats and calls, end-to-end encryption ensures that WhatsApp status updates are shared securely and privately.
Recently, WhatsApp added new features to Status, such as a private audience selector, voice status, status reactions, status profile rings, and link previews.
With the private audience selector, users can update their privacy settings per status to choose who views their status each time they update it. Voice status enables users to record and share voice messages up to 30 seconds, while status reactions allow friends and contacts to quickly respond to status updates using eight different emojis.
Status profile rings make it easy to stay updated on new statuses from loved ones, as the ring will appear around their profile picture. Additionally, link previews provide a visual preview of link content, just like when sending a message, to make statuses look better and give contacts a better idea of what the link is before they click.
These updates have begun rolling out globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks, giving users more flexibility and ways to express themselves on WhatsApp.
