The Green Mobility Hall at the 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), held from October 1-3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, showcases cutting-edge innovations in sustainable transport.

Organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the hall highlights solutions aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reducing costs associated with electric vehicles (EVs) while promoting hydrogen and low-emission fuels.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized WETEX’s role in supporting the National Electric Vehicles Policy and the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy.

"The UAE boasts one of the highest ratios of charging stations to EVs globally,"

he noted, underscoring the nation’s commitment to sustainable transport.

The exhibition also addresses global climate challenges, with transportation responsible for 23% of net global greenhouse gas emissions. DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative, launched in 2014, has established over 700 charging stations, significantly contributing to the region's EV infrastructure.

Lt Gen Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, highlighted the force's commitment to sustainable practices, including the introduction of electric patrols to reduce emissions.

"We aim to become a role model for government entities in eco-friendly practices,"

he stated.

The UAE’s electric mobility readiness is also commendable, ranking first among Arab countries and in the top ten globally. With a growing interest in EVs—73% of residents expressing a desire to purchase electric cars—Dubai continues to lead in sustainable mobility initiatives.

Muna Al Osaimi, Acting CEO of the Roads and Transport Authority, reaffirmed the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainability goals, further positioning Dubai as a global model of resilience and innovation.
