WETEX 2024 to Spotlight Dubai's Investment Appeal and Green Initiatives
The 26th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) is set to feature a series of workshops and panel discussions emphasizing the incentives and facilitation Dubai offers to companies seeking to establish headquarters or branches in the Emirate.
Organized by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), WETEX will run from October 1st to 3rd at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
In response to the increasing global interest in Dubai as a business hub, the workshops will highlight the Emirate's flexible regulatory frameworks, diverse investment opportunities, and robust digital infrastructure. These factors, coupled with Dubai's reputation for safety and security, continue to position the city as a leading destination for investors and entrepreneurs worldwide.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Chairman of WETEX, noted that the exhibition serves as a global platform for understanding market needs, exploring future projects, and identifying opportunities in renewable and clean energy sectors.
"WETEX offers an excellent venue for investment opportunities, partnerships, and networking with global decision-makers,"
he said.
Dubai’s investment appeal is further bolstered by its top global ranking in attracting Greenfield Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects, with 1,650 foreign investment projects worth over AED 39.2 billion in 2023 alone. Additionally, Dubai’s commitment to sustainability is evident through initiatives such as the Dubai Green Fund and the adoption of innovative financing mechanisms for green projects.
Reem Al Hashimy, CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority, emphasized that Expo City Dubai offers an enabling environment for businesses, fostering collaboration and growth with a strong focus on sustainability. The event's collaboration with DEWA further supports Dubai’s ambitious economic and environmental goals, including achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
