The 12th edition of the World Green Economy Summit will begin on Wednesday under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, bringing together 135 speakers to showcase green economy models that can be scaled up.
Organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the World Green Economy Organisation, the two-day event will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the theme “From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy”. Speakers include ministers, business leaders, government officials and innovators from around the world.
Among them are Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Chairman of the World Green Economy Organisation. Ministers from Senegal and Palau will also take part, alongside industry voices from EPRI, Schneider Electric, Fitch Ratings and Lootah BioFuels.
Al Tayer said the summit reinforces the UAE’s position as a key global partner in catalysing investment for climate action and accelerates the shift towards scaling up green solutions.
The programme rests on four pillars: Energy Technology and Infrastructure, Business Strategy and Transition, Water and Food Security, and Finance. Artificial Intelligence, Governance and Supply Chains and Circular Economy run through them as cross-cutting themes.
Sessions will look at bringing down the cost of green technology, energy storage in the Middle East and powering AI through smarter, greener data centres. Others cover the business case for sustainability, green finance in the GCC, blended finance and the $7 trillion opportunity across sectors. Water and food security will be addressed through sessions on reverse osmosis and the technology transforming food production.
The summit will also announce the next cycle of the Emirates Energy Award.
