Winter National Awareness Campaign Launched to Enhance Safety at Fuel Stations
The Joint Committee for Safety and Security at Fuel Stations has launched the Winter National Awareness Campaign for Safety and Security at Fuel Stations, running from December 23, 2024, to January 23, 2025. Coinciding with the holiday and camping season, the initiative aims to educate the public on safety practices at both land and marine fuel stations to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
For land fuel stations, safety rules include:
- Avoiding smoking.
- Keeping children supervised and not leaving them unattended in vehicles.
- Following specific refuelling guidelines for motorbikes to prevent leaks or fires.
For marine fuel stations, safety measures focus on:
- Turning off engines before refuelling.
- Securing boats and jet skis properly during the process to avoid accidents.
The campaign also highlights the dangers of flammable materials and stresses the importance of adhering to instructions provided by fuel station workers to maintain safety.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, and major petroleum companies including ENOC, ADNOC, and Emarat. This effort underscores the UAE’s commitment to public safety during peak travel and outdoor activity seasons.
