Safaa El-Kogali, Country Director for Gulf Cooperation Countries at the World Bank, lauded the UAE's efforts in addressing global climate challenges through coordinated financing at the 7th Abu Dhabi Sustainable Finance Forum, held during Abu Dhabi Finance Week.
El-Kogali highlighted the pivotal role of partnerships in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Global Sustainable Development, emphasizing the UAE’s collaboration with the World Bank Group (WBG).
“I am proud of our partnership with the UAE and the Global Climate Finance Centre, which we co-founded at COP28. Later today, we will formalize this partnership further by signing an MOU with the Climate Finance Center,”
she stated.
She underscored the World Bank’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through collaboration with multilateral banks, governments, and the private sector. The WBG’s focus on poverty reduction, education, healthcare, clean energy, job creation, and climate action aims to create tangible, measurable improvements in developing countries.
El-Kogali emphasized that achieving the SDGs requires collective efforts, saying,
“We cannot do it alone. That’s why we work closely with partners like the UAE to address global challenges and build a sustainable future.”
The forum spotlighted the World Bank’s mission to provide financial resources, technical expertise, and policy guidance, reinforcing its dedication to fostering sustainable development worldwide. This collaboration with the UAE demonstrates a shared vision to tackle climate challenges and promote global sustainability.
