The significance of empowering youth to build the future of their societies and creating policies to instil strong cultural identity among young generations was discussed at the 2nd edition of the Arab Meeting for Young Leaders attended by the ministers of youth, and leaders of youth institutions in Arab countries.

The meeting was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Arab Youth Centre, at the World Government Summit (WGS) 2023.

It highlighted the links between establishing a strong Arab identity and boosting an efficient learning system for the Arabic language.

The meeting also showcased the best practices and strategies to empower Arab youths to become active members of their societies in various fields and hone the skills they need to build a better future for humanity.

Sheikh Theyab highlighted the role of governments and institutions in transforming the energy of the youth into sustainable projects.

“Youth must always be at the centre of discussions on shaping the future of governments,”

said Sheikh Theyab.

He stressed on the significance of listening to the youth and harnessing their ideas to develop different sectors.

The Arab Meeting for Young Leaders, he noted, has become an annual platform that brings together leaders of Arab youth institutions in the UAE and the Arab countries.

“The meeting enables an exchange of expertise and demonstration of policies that contribute to fortifying bridges of communication between youths and decision makers in different Arab countries,”

he said.

“The Arab Meeting for Young Leaders became a forum of sharing ideas, expertise, and visions, let alone identifying the priorities and of Arab youths needs, in both current and future stages,”

said Sheikh Theyab.

He underscored the significance of boosting the youth’s attachment to their Arab identity and the Arabic language, which is the focus of this year’s edition of the meeting. Such work, which is at the core of the Arab Youth Centre, encourages youth to be actively involved in building the future of their societies.

Sheikh Theyab praised the support vested by the ministers of youth in the Arab countries who attended the meeting and contributed to its success.

“It has become very important to establish direct contacts with youths and decision makers in Arab countries,”

he said.

He said the WGS meetings had succeeded this year, thanks to the support of the wise leadership of the UAE that has become a global capital for shaping the future policies of governments.

“This was particularly materialised through the qualitative interaction from guests attending the meetings,”

he added.
