The World Governments Summit (WGS) Organisation has announced a landmark partnership with the World Laureates Association (WLA), marking a major step toward advancing global scientific collaboration and innovation.
This strategic alliance aims to enhance WLA’s engagement at future WGS events and foster the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge in both practical innovations and foundational sciences.
The agreement, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Mohamed Yousif Al Sharhan, Managing Director of WGS, and Wang Ho, Executive Director and Secretary-General of the WLA, was launched in the presence of Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Vice Chair of WGS, and Dr. Roger Kornberg, Chair of the WLA.
Designed to facilitate global dialogue on science and technology’s role in shaping future societies, the partnership seeks to drive sustainable scientific development and support human-centric innovations. It will also provide a platform to spotlight breakthrough research and empower emerging scientific talent worldwide.
Al Olama emphasised the importance of such collaborations in equipping governments to meet future challenges, noting that partnerships with international entities are vital to fostering knowledge exchange and enabling innovation-led governance.
Dr. Kornberg described the partnership as a pioneering initiative, bringing together the world's brightest minds to address some of humanity’s most critical challenges. Wang Ho echoed this sentiment, highlighting the WGS as a vital global platform for uniting political and scientific leadership to deliver lasting impact.
Headquartered in Shanghai, the WLA is known for its work with Nobel and Turing laureates to promote scientific excellence, while the WGS—set to return from 3–5 February 2026—continues to serve as a global convening point for shaping policy, foresight, and innovation across disciplines.
