World Green Economy Summit 2024 Set to Drive Global Green Transition

The 10th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is scheduled for October 2-3, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together global experts, government representatives, and industry leaders to foster international cooperation on green economy initiatives.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the summit aims to promote sustainable development, clean energy, and a fair energy transition.

Key themes for WGES 2024 include decarbonisation, net-zero goals, climate finance, circular economy, and the role of technology in tackling climate change. Youth involvement and the critical issues of food and water security will also be addressed through various sessions.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the World Green Economy Organization, highlighted the UAE’s leadership in global climate action, stating,

“We aim to foster global cooperation by uniting stakeholders to contribute to the enhancement of global climate action.”

HE Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, emphasized that WGES 2024 is a significant step in the UAE’s journey to building a sustainable economy. He noted that public-private partnerships are essential to achieving sustainability goals.

Prominent speakers include HE Sultan Al Neyadi, COP28 Director-General, Helmut Von Struve, CEO of Siemens Middle East, and Gauri Singh, Deputy Director General of IRENA. Siemens and other key players will showcase the latest innovations in renewable energy and electrification solutions.

WGES 2024 promises to be a landmark event, advancing the global dialogue on building an integrated, sustainable green economy.
