Dubai has been officially named a strategic base for global scientific collaboration by the World Laureates Association, positioning the city as a key hub for research exchange and international cooperation.
The announcement was made during a joint session of the World Laureates Summit and the World Governments Summit on 3 February.
Professor Roger Kornberg, speaking at the opening of the World Laureates Summit on 1 February, highlighted Dubai’s geographic advantage, global connectivity, and strong commitment to science as key factors enabling international cooperation. He described the city as an exceptional platform for bringing together scientists from around the world and fostering collaboration across disciplines and institutions.
The new Dubai base will expand the association’s global activities, providing a platform for scientific dialogue, talent development, and collaborative research initiatives. It aims to support sustained engagement across multiple scientific and policy domains, strengthening long-term partnerships and advancing knowledge across regions.
This development builds on the momentum of the World Laureates Summit and underscores Dubai’s growing role as a global centre for innovation and research. The initiative aligns with the World Laureates Association’s vision to create enduring structures that promote science for the benefit of humanity.
By establishing a permanent presence in Dubai, the association seeks to foster continuous international exchange, facilitate groundbreaking research collaborations, and nurture the next generation of scientific leaders.
