Dubai will host one of the world’s most influential scientific gatherings as the World Laureates Summit opens on February 1, 2026, bringing more than 150 leading scientists, Nobel laureates, and global policymakers together to shape the future of science-led governance.

Held alongside the World Governments Summit 2026, the three-day event creates a high-level platform where basic science meets decision-making. Organised by the World Laureates Association in partnership with the World Governments Summit, the forum aims to ensure that global policies are grounded in rigorous scientific thinking.

The Summit gathers recipients of the Nobel Prize, Turing Award, Fields Medal, Breakthrough Prize, and other top international honours. Discussions will focus on long-term, multidisciplinary cooperation across fields that are redefining modern civilisation, including artificial intelligence, quantum science, biotechnology, genomics, neurotechnology, energy, and advanced materials.

Under the theme “Basic Sciences: Scientific Consensus for Addressing the Challenges of Humanity,” the programme highlights the role of foundational research in guiding economic systems, technological development, and global governance.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Vice Chairman of the World Governments Summit Foundation, said the event reflects the country’s belief that science is central to building a sustainable future. He emphasised the importance of translating scientific insight into actionable policy.

Professor Roger D. Kornberg, Chairman of the World Laureates Association, described the Summit as a critical moment for aligning political will with scientific progress.

The event will also see the launch of the “Vision 2050 for a Scientific Civilisation” white paper, alongside new global rankings and annual scientific reviews, reinforcing Dubai’s growing role as a hub for science, policy, and innovation.
