Dubai opened its doors today to global maritime leaders as the World Maritime Day Parallel Event 2025 began under the theme “Our Ocean – Our Obligation – Our Opportunity.”
The two-day gathering, hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, brings together ministers, officials, and experts to address the future of maritime transport.
The event aims to tackle pressing challenges facing the sector, from sustainability and digital transformation to ocean conservation. Delegates are expected to exchange solutions that balance environmental protection with economic growth, highlighting innovation as a driver of progress.
An international exhibition was inaugurated on the opening day, featuring the latest technologies and sustainable practices in shipping, transport, and maritime logistics. The showcase underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing maritime innovation and reinforcing its role as a global hub for the industry.
By hosting the event, the UAE strengthens its position as a centre for maritime transport while aligning with global efforts to secure cleaner, more efficient oceans. The gathering also provides a platform to amplify the International Maritime Organization’s priorities and bring stakeholders together to shape policies of shared interest.
First launched in Lisbon in 2005, the World Maritime Day Parallel Event is held in a different country each year, amplifying the annual World Maritime Day theme and its call for collaborative action in the sector.
