The Zayed Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation has entered into a pivotal agreement with the Noor Dubai Foundation to enhance the screening and management of diabetic eye disease in Morocco.

This collaboration aims to prevent blindness globally by establishing a structured screening program focused on early detection of diabetic retinopathy, particularly in remote areas.

Spanning six years, the program will integrate advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into existing healthcare infrastructure. This initiative will not only facilitate the creation of AI-enabled diabetic retinopathy guidelines and patient referral pathways but will also emphasize the training of physicians and healthcare providers.

The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including Dr. Mohamed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director General of the Zayed Foundation, and Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Chairman of Noor Dubai Foundation. Dr. Manal Omran Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai, also participated, highlighting the importance of this partnership.

Dr. Al Falahi remarked on the necessity of collaborating with specialized foundations to leverage AI technology in healthcare, aligning with the "Zayed Humanitarian Legacy" initiative launched in March 2024. He emphasized that advanced technologies are vital in addressing the challenges of providing accessible, high-quality healthcare.

Awadh Al Ketbi reinforced the value of joint efforts in delivering impactful programs, noting that the partnership will support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17 on partnerships.

Dr. Taryam pointed out the growing prevalence of diabetes and its associated risks, stating,

“We are dedicated to fighting preventable blindness by integrating innovation and technology into our solutions.”

Through this collaboration, both foundations aim to create a sustainable model for eye care in Morocco, addressing a critical global health challenge.
