Allied World Assurance Company Holdings has launched a regional office at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), marking a significant step in the global insurer's expansion strategy and deepening its direct access to brokers and clients across the Middle East.

The new office positions Allied World to deliver its insurance and reinsurance expertise locally, responding to what the company describes as the evolving risk management needs of businesses in the region. Ed Moresco, President of Global Markets, said the move gives the firm greater proximity to clients throughout the region and reflects its long-term commitment to international growth.

Allied World's arrival coincides with a period of strong momentum for DIFC as a global (re)insurance hub. Gross written premiums at the centre exceeded $4.2 billion in 2025, a 20 percent year-on-year increase and more than double the volumes recorded in 2022. Premiums brokered from DIFC also rose 14 percent to cross $3.4 billion, underscoring the centre's growing scale and global relevance.

Arif Amiri, CEO of DIFC Authority, welcomed the addition, noting that Allied World's specialist capabilities would directly support regional clients' risk transfer and underwriting needs while further reinforcing DIFC's position as a preferred platform for tier-one firms.

The broader DIFC insurance ecosystem now comprises more than 135 firms spanning underwriting, reinsurance, broking, captives and specialist risk activities. During 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, 28 new insurance-related firms were authorised at the centre, reflecting sustained appetite among global institutions for a stable, well-regulated base from which to serve regional and international markets.

Allied World's entry adds another globally recognised name to a hub that continues to expand its influence well beyond the Middle East.
