Chinese technology giant Baidu Inc. has launched the latest version of its large language model, Ernie 4.0 Turbo. This new model will be accessible to the public through both web interfaces and mobile applications, enhancing user experience with faster responses and superior performance.
The upgraded Ernie 4.0 Turbo significantly advances the capabilities of its predecessor, Ernie 4.0, according to Baidu. Developers can integrate this advanced technology via Baidu's Qianfan LLM platform.
Since its debut in March 2023, Baidu's AI-powered chatbot, Ernie Bot, has amassed 300 million users. The Ernie API now manages 500 million daily queries, as reported by Wang Haifeng, Baidu's Chief Technology Officer.
This announcement coincides with OpenAI's decision to restrict API access from China and other countries starting July 9.
Additionally, Baidu has launched an upgraded version of its deep learning platform, the PaddlePaddle AI ecosystem. This platform now supports 14.65 million developers and serves 370,000 enterprises and institutions, further solidifying Baidu's position as a leader in the AI industry.
