Emaar Properties has announced the completion of a groundbreaking façade lighting upgrade for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
Featuring state-of-the-art RGBW lighting technology, the new system will debut during the UAE’s Eid Al Etihad celebrations on December 1, 2024, and mark the tower’s 15th anniversary on January 4, 2025.
The dynamic upgrade transforms the iconic structure into a vibrant visual masterpiece. Offering a vast spectrum of colours and intricate effects, the system elevates the guest experience and reinforces Dubai’s reputation as a global hub for innovation and design excellence.
Over six months of meticulous planning and mock-up testing ensured the seamless integration of the new lighting system. Unlike the previous static lights, the RGBW fixtures are colour-changing and addressable, enabling the creation of complex, synchronized lighting displays for special events and daily illuminations. The system also complements the tower’s media screen, ensuring a cohesive and dynamic visual experience.
Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Executive Director of Emaar Properties, emphasized the significance of the upgrade:
“Burj Khalifa has always stood as a beacon of what is possible when vision meets innovation. This lighting overhaul is a tribute to the UAE’s spirit of progress and reaffirms Dubai as a city of boundless ambition.”
The advanced lighting system redefines architectural lighting standards, blending technology with artistry to inspire future projects worldwide. As Burj Khalifa enters a new chapter, the dazzling displays promise to captivate visitors and further cement the tower’s status as a global icon of modern design and architectural brilliance.
