As conductor Monica Woodman raises her baton, the Firdaus Orchestra musicians start weaving together seamlessly as sensation Atif Aslam’s voice begins to fill the room with his rich and soulful vocals...

The rehearsal room at the Firdaus Studio by A.R. Rahman is alive with the sound of music as Atif and Firdaus Orchestra come together for the first time in preparation for this weekend’s magical encounter at the Coca-Cola Arena.

The creative process is evident as the performers have been working tirelessly to perfect every aspect of the performance and as rehearsals continue, it’s clear that Atif and the musicians have a deep understanding of each other’s artistry, a true testament to the power of collaboration and creativity.  They work together to perfect each note, each rhythm, and each melody, with Woodman offering her guidance and feedback to create something truly magical.

“The most important part of any concert is the rehearsals, that’s where the connection with every note takes place and the dynamics between me, Atif Aslam and the musicians has been an incredible experience,”

shares conductor Monica Woodman.

Under the leadership of Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General Expo City Dubai, the Firdaus Orchestra (also known as Expo City Dubai’s Firdaus Orchestra), was brought together with the goal to develop the musical community in Dubai and the UAE. Mentored by Oscar Winning composer A.R. Rahman, this all-women ensemble of professional musicians come together from over 24 countries to set a foundation for a multi-cultural orchestral culture in the Middle East. Rahman brought the orchestra to life over a period of 12 months by selecting and training these musicians in addition to composing original music that brings out the sound of Dubai.

“Although we are still a very young orchestra, we are extremely proud of our achievements thus far,”

Woodman continues.

“The vision of Firdaus Orchestra has helped me to shape my understanding about the symphonic and classical world merging with the Middle East and our future in the music industry.  Our goal is to expand and change the usual concept of a symphonic orchestra and make Firdaus Orchestra and institution and example for the world and younger generations to come.”

But it’s not just about the music.  The team behind the scenes is also focused on creating a visually stunning concert, experimenting with lighting and stage design to ensure that the audience has an immersive and unforgettable experience.

“The rehearsals have been intense, with all teams working hard to create a technically flawless emotionally resonant performance,”

shares Blu Blood MD and CEO, Osman Osman and Shaaista Khan Osman.

There is a palpable sense of excitement in the air, a feeling that something incredible is about to happen.

The concert is set to take place this coming weekend at the Coca-Cola Arena on the 4thof March.  An experience not to be missed, limited tickets are available at coca-cola-arena.com, Dubai Calendar and PlatinumList.
