Careem has partnered with MAJRA National CSR Fund to roll out its 2026 Captain Summer Initiatives, a four month programme designed to support delivery workers through the UAE's harshest weather months.
The initiative runs from June through September across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Al Ain, and is expected to reach more than 80,000 delivery workers regardless of which platform they work for.
The programme provides air conditioned mobile rest areas at high traffic locations, giving captains a place to cool down and rehydrate during shifts. Free on ground health screenings will also be offered in partnership with Pakistan Association Dubai. Cold water stations, ice cream, and fresh fruit juices will be available across key delivery zones throughout the summer.
PepsiCo has joined as the Official Refreshment and Snack Partner, supplying beverages and snacks to keep workers refreshed from June to September.
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, said captains are central to daily life across the UAE and credited MAJRA for an impactful partnership that supports all captains regardless of platform. He noted the programme has expanded this year to four cities and four months, with health screenings added for the first time.
Sarah Shaw, CEO of MAJRA National CSR Fund, said the UAE's approach to social responsibility is about raising standards for everyone, not just one organisation's reach. She called the initiative the start of a broader movement and encouraged other private sector organisations to join in building stronger corporate responsibility efforts.
Wael Ismail, VP of Corporate Affairs for PepsiCo MENAPAK, said delivery workers are a familiar and essential part of daily community life, and that providing refreshments aims to make their breaks more comfortable during the warmer months.
