Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has delivered its strongest-ever first-quarter performance, reporting record revenue of AED 6.45 billion for Q1 2026, with net profit climbing nearly 90% year-on-year to AED 0.94 billion.

The results, announced by the DFM-listed utility, also include an EBITDA of AED 2.88 billion and operating profit of AED 1.29 billion — all first-quarter records for the company. On a standalone basis, DEWA's net profit reached AED 1.05 billion, a 55.8% increase over the same period last year.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman and MD & CEO of DEWA, described the results as an exceptional start to the year, attributing the performance to sustained demand for electricity, water and cooling services, alongside a disciplined focus on operational excellence and long-term shareholder value.

Operationally, DEWA generated a record 11.09 TWh of power during the quarter, up 5.65% from Q1 2025, with clean energy accounting for 18.5% of total generation. Desalinated water production also hit a record 37.57 billion imperial gallons, a 5.51% year-on-year increase.

The authority expanded its water infrastructure by commissioning Block A of the Hassyan Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plant, adding 60 MIGD of desalination capacity and bringing total installed capacity to 555 MIGD. SWRO now represents 23% of DEWA's total water mix, with a further 120 MIGD of capacity expected to come online in 2026.

DEWA's customer base grew by 19,803 accounts during the quarter, with total accounts rising by a record 65,086 over the past twelve months — annual growth of 5.08%.

On dividends, DEWA distributed AED 3.1 billion to shareholders in April 2026 for H2 2025, with the next payment of AED 3.1 billion expected in October 2026
