Following its commitment to generate most value out of Dubai Government’s data, Digital Dubai has encouraged Dubai Government entities to adopt the Data Compliance Law, issued by the Dubai Data Establishment in 2015.
In line with realising the importance of data as a key enabler of smart cities and digital transformation at large, Digital Dubai launched the Data Maturity Framework as part of its participation in GITEX Global 2022.
This project is designed to promote the value of data assets in Dubai, enable Government entities to utilize the city’s valuable data, and transform the traditional practices of data governance into innovative methods that generate value and improve decision-making processes.
In return, this transformation will enable implementing the entity’s ambitious strategies towards building an advanced digital economy, where data is the key fuel powering the future.
The new Data Maturity Framework consists of four main pillars:
- Data Governance
- Data Sharing
- Data Analysis & Decision-Making
- Data Quality
The Framework will contribute to a huge transformation in data maturity and Government entities’ readiness to provide mature data that closely supports decision-making and the digital economy.
Younus Al Nasser, Assistant Director-General of Digital Dubai, and CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment, said,
“As the world grows more connected and advanced technologies drive sweeping transformations across every aspect of our daily lives, data increasingly presents itself as an indispensable asset that allows us to gain deeper insight, use resources more efficiently, and establish an integrated system that anticipates and meets people’s needs and requirements. The proliferation of data technologies is set to gain momentum over the coming years, which calls for putting in place new systems and tools to assess the progress and maturity of our data initiatives and projects.
“The launch of the Framework at GITEX Global 2022 forms part of Digital Dubai’s strategy to promote clear and decisive data governance in enabling the city’s digital economy."
