The Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) has taken a proactive step towards achieving leadership in the publication of judicial knowledge and the enrichment of legal thought by launching the specialised “Future Research Competition” in the field of scientific publication.

With a focus on excellence and innovation, the competition seeks to create an ambitious and stimulating environment that encourages a quantum leap in the legal fields related to modern technologies.

The ‘Future Research Competition’ has been designed to engage legal professionals and academics in the task of envisioning the future of the legal and judicial sector using scientific and methodological approaches.

The competition is aligned with the directives of the wise leadership, represented by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who emphasises the importance of clarity of vision, planning, action, and implementation in building the future. Dubai’s modern infrastructure and appropriate legislative structure position it to be a global hub for shaping the future of the region and the world. This is not a new concept for Dubai, which has always been at the forefront of innovation and progress.

The competition comprises two categories: the first category pertains to books, which will be included in the research and studies series, and the second category involves scientific research, which will be published in a refereed journal.

The competition will focus on legal and judicial applications in the following areas: metaverse, data and privacy, development of energy and new substances technologies, environmental systems management and the economy (Independent Business – Family companies).

Legal professionals, academics, and workers in related fields who are interested in participating in the “Future Research” competition can submit their projects and files no later than 31st October, 2023.

A specialised jury will evaluate all applications to determine and select the winning works. Cash prizes have been allocated for the winners in the first three positions in each category. The winning works will be published in both paper and electronic form and made available through all publishing outlets of DJI.
