DP World and the Government of the Dominican Republic have announced a $100 million investment to expand logistics and warehousing infrastructure at the DP World Free Trade Zone in Caucedo, reinforcing the country's ambitions as a premier trade and manufacturing hub for the Americas.

The announcement was made at the 12th World Free Zones Congress 2026 and adds to the $760 million previously committed through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2025 to expand the Port of Caucedo and its Free Trade Zone, bringing total investment to $860 million.

The latest funding, secured in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, will finance new warehouse infrastructure and increase overall logistics capacity. The expansion is designed to more deeply integrate port, free zone, and logistics operations at Caucedo to keep pace with rising regional demand.

According to independent research by Oxford Economics, DP World already supports nearly 5,000 jobs across the Dominican Republic. The port handled $13.3 billion in total trade in 2024, and projections suggest goods exports could reach $2.4 billion by 2035.

Morten Johansen, COO of DP World in the Americas, said the additional commitment builds on prior pledges, with the goal of positioning Caucedo as a fully integrated logistics platform capable of sustaining long-term trade and industrial growth.

Manuel Martínez, CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic, added that the expansion would allow customers to scale more efficiently while boosting the country's competitiveness as a regional trade hub.

The Caucedo complex is fast emerging as a strategic gateway connecting Caribbean, North American, and Latin American supply chains.
