US-based AI infrastructure company Positron AI has opened its first office outside the United States at the Dubai International Financial Centre, marking a significant step in its global expansion as demand for scalable AI inference solutions accelerates worldwide.

The unicorn-status firm, which has raised over $300 million including a $230 million Series B round, received its DIFC licence as part of a broader push into the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. The company has previously deployed its inference technology with a US hyperscaler.

Positron's focus is AI inference, the process of deploying and operating large language models at scale, reliably and economically. The company positions itself as a next-generation alternative to traditional GPU-based hardware, offering lower cost per token, higher memory density and improved energy efficiency.

Its first-generation server, Atlas, is designed to match the performance of NVIDIA's DGX-H100 systems for small and medium-sized models while consuming less power at lower cost. Its follow-up product, Titan, is slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2027 and is built to outperform NVIDIA's Rubin and Blackwell GPU systems on both performance and power efficiency.

Husni Khuffash, Managing Director MENA at Positron AI, said the DIFC base positions the company to work closely with regional industry players, regulators and partners while supporting Dubai's ambition to build globally competitive AI capabilities.

Mohammad Alblooshi, CEO of the DIFC Innovation Hub, welcomed the move, noting that Positron's approach aligns with DIFC's evolution into an AI-native jurisdiction.

Positron has indicated that the Dubai office will serve as a launchpad for further regional expansion, with additional offices planned across the Middle East.
