Here are the ways to pay fines for violations on public transport with the RTA:
- Pay the fine directly to the inspector who issued it on the spot. When fined, you'll receive a notification from the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) specifying the amount.
- Use the dedicated portal on the RTA website to pay fines online.
- Visit RTA Customer Happiness Centres located around the city to pay fines in person. You'll need the fine number provided by the RTA at the time of issuing.
- For bus passengers, fines can be paid through self-service machines.
If you believe you've been unfairly fined, you can dispute it with the RTA. Here's how:
- Gather all necessary documents including the fine number from the notification, fine payment receipt, a letter with the bank account number, and Emirates ID.
- Dispute your fine through the RTA website for bus fines within 30 days of receiving the fine.
- Visit the RTA website and upload the required documents.
- You'll receive an SMS from RTA with your case number and expected response date.
- Once your case is decided, you'll receive a notification from RTA informing you whether your appeal was accepted or rejected. If accepted, the fine amount will be refunded to your account.
