Dubai Airports has brought the Dubai Mallathon to an airport for the first time, transforming Dubai International's Terminal 3 Departures into an indoor walking track as part of the citywide wellbeing initiative.

The inaugural session saw Dubai Airports employees, members of the wider oneDXB community and People of Determination take part in two morning walks, marking a new chapter for an initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.

Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports, said the initiative gives colleagues a way to stay active that fits around shifts and daily routines, adding that airports are natural settings for movement given the constant flow of people through them.

Demaithan Al Qamzi, General Coordinator of Dubai Mallathon, said DXB's involvement extends the initiative's reach to airport staff and travellers, reflecting its growth from a sporting event into a broader community movement woven into people's workplaces.

Further walks will take place every Friday throughout August at various Terminal 3 locations, drawing airport colleagues, partners and the public. The final session on 28 August will mark Emirati Women's Day, celebrating the contributions of Emirati women across Dubai Airports and the aviation sector.

Dubai Mallathon transforms the city's malls into air-conditioned walking and running tracks each summer. The 2025 edition drew more than 40,000 participants and over 120 million steps, earning a Guinness World Records title for the most runners in a mall run event. The 2026 edition runs citywide until 15 September, with DXB becoming the first non-mall venue to host it, extending the initiative beyond Dubai's malls and into one of the city's busiest public spaces.
