Dubai Chambers, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the Indian Business and Professional Council, held a dedicated forum on Monday to help Indian family businesses in Dubai build stronger governance frameworks and secure their long-term sustainability.

The event drew 87 participants from the Indian family business community and explored strategies for regulating governance, managing generational leadership transitions, and improving operational competitiveness both locally and globally.

Held in the presence of Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, the forum spotlighted Federal Decree Law No. 37 of 2022 on Family Businesses — legislation designed to create a more flexible legal environment that supports the growth and resilience of family enterprises.

Bin Touq Al Marri underscored the weight of the sector, noting that family businesses contribute 60% of the UAE's GDP, employ 80% of the workforce, and make up around 90% of all private companies in the country. He urged all family businesses in the UAE to register with the Unified Family Business Registry, a federal platform offering services including company registration, certificate issuance, and family charter deposits.

Lootah emphasised Dubai Chambers' commitment to guiding family businesses toward more structured institutional models.

"We remain committed to enhancing the readiness of family businesses for the next stages of growth and prosperity,"

he said.

On the sidelines, the Dubai Centre for Family Businesses announced three new advisory services launched in 2025 — covering situation assessments, family charter drafting, and family office planning. The centre also released its first directory of family business advisers in Dubai, connecting businesses with trusted specialists across key operational areas.
