Dubai Municipality has officially opened Khor Al Mamzar Beach, marking the first phase of a large-scale beachfront development project that forms part of a broader AED3 billion public beach investment programme across the emirate.
Inaugurated by Dubai Municipality Director General Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, the destination spans 2.75 million square feet and is now accessible to residents, visitors and tourists. The opening was attended by Directors General from multiple government entities, along with Al Mamzar and Deira community members, media and influencers.
The beach has undergone a sweeping transformation, with its swimming shoreline expanding by 128% to 3.6 kilometres. A 300-metre night beach operates round the clock, and the destination introduces the region's first floating walkway alongside more than 5.5 kilometres of running, walking and cycling tracks.
Facilities have seen significant growth. Public amenities increased by 400% to a total of 20, food and beverage outlets rose by 950% to 19, and safety infrastructure was enhanced by 340%, including 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points. The sandy beachfront now spans 182,000 square metres, an increase of 110%.
Bin Ghalita said the project reflects the leadership's vision to transform Dubai's beaches into globally iconic destinations, with human wellbeing at the centre of urban planning.
Upon completion of its second phase at Al Mamzar Corniche, the destination is expected to draw up to 7 million visitors annually. Dubai Municipality will also open leasing and investment opportunities to businesses and entrepreneurs as part of its public-private partnership strategy.
The development aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030.
