The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai has launched "Click & Travel," described as the world's first mobile service to handle entry and departure procedures at Dubai's airports during peak periods and emergencies.
Rather than passengers heading to fixed checkpoints, passport control officers now go to them, using mobile devices linked to GDRFA Dubai's systems and biometric verification to complete transactions in roughly 12 to 15 seconds.
Since pilot operations began in May, the service has processed about 31,373 transactions through August 31, 2026. It's available to all passengers for departures — citizens, residents, and visitors alike — while the arrivals phase currently covers UAE citizens and residents, with wider rollout planned.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, said the service marks a shift from improving procedures to redesigning the passenger experience itself, noting that the transaction volume so far supports continued expansion.
Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti, Assistant Director General for Air Ports at GDRFA Dubai, said the mobile format cuts waiting points and improves passenger flow while maintaining security standards.
Colonel Expert Khalid Bin Mediya Al Falasi, Assistant Director General for Digital Services at GDRFA Dubai, said the service's value lies less in the device itself and more in the digital integration behind it, which allows officers to verify identities and complete procedures securely from wherever the passenger is. He added that the system is built to support future expansion into other services along the passenger journey.
The launch builds on GDRFA Dubai's broader smart ports strategy, aimed at making airport processes more proactive and flexible as part of Dubai's push to strengthen its position in global travel.
