Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) is rallying industry leaders, innovators, policymakers and students from across the UAE under the global #BuildItReady campaign for the 18th annual World Green Building Week (September 7-11, 2026).

This year's Dubai programme is built to move climate ambitions from talk to action, weaving the built environment's key pillars into a single, connected story.

Things get underway with a focus on female leadership through 'Women in Sustainability: Building It Ready,' recognising the part women play in delivering sustainable projects across design, engineering and construction. From there, the focus shifts to youth with 'Design for Practice: A Student Design Challenge' at the American University in Dubai, where architecture students team up with experienced professionals to work through real-world urban design challenges.

Turning to long-term operational efficiency, EmiratesGBC will hit a major industry milestone alongside independent partner Meyaar with the official launch of the 'EmiratesGBC Energy and Water Benchmark,' offering essential performance reference data for hotels, malls, offices and schools across the UAE.

The week closes with a joint session hosted with Expo City Dubai, 'Build with Less Carbon: The UAE Materials Transition,' which introduces a practical embodied carbon baseline aimed at speeding up the shift to low-carbon materials nationwide.
