Dubai has raised more than AED 1.049 billion to combat childhood hunger through global pledges and a charity auction supporting the Edge of Life campaign, a humanitarian initiative launched during Ramadan by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to help rescue five million children from hunger worldwide.

The total includes AED 91.405 million raised through the Most Noble Number charity auction in Dubai, alongside pledges worth $276.36 million from international humanitarian and philanthropic organisations and AED 35.816 million in individual contributions.

The fundraising was announced during a Suhoor gathering organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives at Armani Hotel Dubai. The event brought together business and philanthropic leaders and was held in collaboration with Badr Jafar.

Proceeds from the auction, organised in partnership with Emirates Auction and supported by Roads and Transport Authority Dubai, e& UAE and du, came from bidding on 29 exclusive vehicle plate and mobile numbers.

Among the most notable bids was AED 37 million for the RTA plate number DD 6, contributing to a total of AED 81.5 million raised from special vehicle plates.

Major international pledges included $100 million from the Aga Khan Foundation, $50 million each from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, EdelGive Foundation and Piramal Foundation, as well as contributions from Tata Trusts, Aliko Dangote Foundation and Dalio Philanthropies.

The campaign works with partners including UNICEF, Save the Children, Children's Investment Fund Foundation and Action Against Hunger to address malnutrition and deliver critical food support to vulnerable children worldwide.
