The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) marked a significant milestone by celebrating its tenth anniversary in the Republic of Korea.

The celebration was led by Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, who hosted a roadshow and reception to express gratitude to key stakeholders who have contributed to DET's success over the past decade.

Kazim's visit aligns with Dubai's Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to solidify the city’s status as a premier global destination for business and leisure. Building on an impressive 225% year-on-year increase in visitor numbers from Korea in 2023, DET engaged travel trade professionals and formalized new partnerships to further boost Dubai's appeal.

Last week, DET signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with influential South Korean institutions, including a leading media powerhouse and a major financial player. These agreements focus on amplifying Dubai’s wellness and cultural offerings and launching joint marketing initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights for enhanced consumer outreach.

During a gala dinner held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul, attended by UAE Ambassador Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi and VIPs from the travel sector, Kazim emphasized the significance of partnerships in meeting the evolving needs of Korean consumers. Actor Park Hyung-sik, a friend of Dubai, surprised attendees by sharing his experiences in the city.

Kazim stated,

“These collaborations exemplify our commitment to innovative marketing strategies that ensure Dubai continues to stand out as a world-class destination. We look forward to offering South Korean audiences even more compelling reasons to experience Dubai's unique offerings.”

With strategic initiatives and impactful campaigns, DET is poised to enhance Dubai’s visibility and attractiveness in South Korea, fostering deeper tourism exchanges between the two nations.
