DMCC and gaming company Wild Unlimited have announced Dubai Developed in Fortnite 2033, a new gaming experience that lets players around the world explore a digital recreation of Dubai. It goes live globally on November 11.

Built independently by Wild Unlimited using Unreal Editor for Fortnite, the open-world, team-based experience features landmarks including Al Fahidi Fort, Almas Tower, Uptown Dubai, Skydive Dubai, Kite Beach and Dubai Harbour. Players will take part in exploration, competitive challenges and team objectives.

A public launch event and Wild Game Fest will take place at SALT, Kite Beach, on launch day. The project follows the Dubai Drop campaign, which began on November 1 and invites residents to collect augmented reality collectibles and compete for prizes redeemable at the festival.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, said the DMCC Gaming Centre is now home to more than 170 gaming companies. He said the aim is for “games made in Dubai, by talent developed in Dubai, played by the world.”

Students at the American University in Dubai helped recreate their campus during a UEFN masterclass held in February. Sam Shami, Founder and CEO of Wild Unlimited, said the goal is a digital destination where millions of players can discover the city and its culture.

The project involves Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Culture, SALT and Shamal Holding. It supports the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, which aims to strengthen the industry, develop talent and diversify the economy. Future editions will add destinations, gameplay features and opportunities for creators and commercial partners.

The island is independently created and is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by Epic Games.
